Life Lately

Well hello again, Friday. So glad you decided to make an appearance again. This week has been fabulous to me.

Northern Belle Designs

  1. Chip and Daisy received their first BarkBox in the mail. Of course, I had to tease them with its contents.
  2. I drove to sunny Florida. The pups and I basked in the sunshine and took time to smell the flowers.
  3. Being in Florida, I just had to have another mahvulous blate (or 2) with Rachel, and I brought her a delicacy of southern Georgia--Butterducks Sweet Peach Wine. So of course, we wined and dined, and then did a little shopping. Things got a tad silly (do you think I could pass for a Southern Belle? I think so!).
  4. I caught Daisy giving her brother the sweetest little embrace.
  5. And, during a long dinner out, I didn't miss out on the Twitlovefest with Rachel, Beth, Angela, Chelsea. Shortly after that picture, the funniest conversation about DUCKS ensued. More about that next week!
  6. Last, but not least, I finally opened my blog design site. The first 5 readers to place an order will get 30% off design services! Hurry!
I also wanted to take a minute and introduce to you my lovely Sea to Shining Sea sponsor, calicodaisy. Michele is the artist behind lovely handmade home decor in her Etsy shop. Just look at this beautiful pillow. It has the best name in the world: The Lisette Appliqué Monogram. I need one  (or two) in my life!

Northern Belle Diaries readers can take 15% off any $50 order using promo code NBelle0413.

Life Lately

What a week.

Hey there Friday. Welcome back! I am so happy this week is le dunzo. I'm exhausted to say the least.

Here's what's been going on lately around these parts...

Chip and Daisy received a  piece of 3-foot-long beef jerky.
This 3 foot-long beef jerky was so outrageously large that I splurged the $6 on it. I admit it was really more for my benefit than theirs. I still crack up about it. Happiest dogs I've ever seen.

This week I was also alone as my husband was away on business. Oh, I kept busy alright. Daisy was spayed. If you've ever had a little sprite of a dog like a Maltese, you'll understand why I'm so exhausted. They're not supposed to jump on or off furniture, but she would do it in the blink of an eye.

I had several mishaps in successfully putting on her cone. I finally just put on a hair clip and called it a day. She looked so pitiful after coming home from surgery, but Chip was comforting her.

I also only slept through the night ONCE this week as Daisy had a horribly upset stomach and we would take 3-4 potty breaks outside. THREE to FOUR PER NIGHT. Not fun.

This amazing giveaway happened this week. Don't forget to enter it, as the possibilities for a $300 gift card are awesome!

This weekend also couldn't come any sooner as there was bad stuff happening. It led me to making these phone wallpaper freebies for your enjoyment and to lift your spirits. Aubrey also made a Friday Freebie today that you will LOVE!

I'm leaving you with my #backthatazzup jam. It has soothed my spirits already!

Weekend Recap: Heels over Head

I have an awesome husband.  My guy just laughed at me.

What I would have loved for a hole to appear beneath me and swallow me whole this Saturday.

We decided to go to an upscale bar + lounge for a much-needed night out dancing bachata and merengue.  For those of you who don't know, those are two of the native music genres from the Dominican Republic that we enjoy dancing to.

I went all out.

Got my nails did
My first platform heels since 1998

Naturally, when I look like my old self from my college years, I don't take an outfit picture. Shimmery Ann Taylor trouser jeans, black sequined tank top and a cropped black jacket.
Seriously, wtf?

This is the first thing you see when you step into "Sub Zero."  The entire place is decorated in white, silver, baby blue, and glass. Very fitting of its name, don't you think?  It was beautiful.

Illuminated bar top.  Love!
If you don't know by now, I love Cosmopolitans almost as much as I love wine.  I had 4 of these.  Yep.  FOUR.  I dunno what I was thinking.

So here I am, dancing and shaking my booty in my shimmery trouser jeans, twirling away on these awesome heels...having a VERY good time.  Then, in the bat of an eye...

yeah, you guessed it...

in the middle of the dance floor...dancing with one of my hub's coworkers.

A SOBER coworker.

Insert aforementioned black hole.

I only wish looked as cute as this bunny.  We're "talking heels up in the air" falling down.

And...I didn't feel a THING!

There you have it, ladies and gentlemen.  I managed to embarrass myself in front of about seven of my husband's coworkers...that I met that same night.

Lisette, when will you ever learn?  Put that 4th drink down!
What did YOU do this weekend?

My Life Lately

Thank the Lord that Sandy "aka Frankenstorm" did not come anywhere near our area in southeast Georgia!  We just narrowly missed this nightmare, and B telling me that the greater Savannah area is long overdue for a hurricane did not make me any happier.  I am thinking of friends and family back North (and my mother-in-law who is moving from Maryland to West Virginia in this mess!) and hoping every one stays safe!

Here is what my life has looked like lately:

Yay!  Our little tree is FINALLY starting to show some semblance of Fall.  This is a big deal to me as most trees around me are evergreens, and autumn is my FAVE season of the year!

This is the most decorating I've made for the season.  I'm a little ashamed, but I rather invest my resources on Christmas (my hands down FAVE time of year)!

I made chili (for the first time EVER!) on Friday when the South felt the passing of Sandy.  Cumin is my new love!  My darling hubby made the cornbread.  I'm so happy to be married to a foodie!

Here is my beloved Chip!  (aka Choopie-Choop, and Chewie-Chomp-Chomp).  I was baking more of my homemade Peanut-Butter Pumpkin treats and he was paaaatiently waiting for them to be done.
I'm a tad obsessed with this "Frankenstorm."  If I were still teaching in Baltimore, I'd be home (terrifed) watching this through the windows just as I did last year for hurricane Irene.  (B insisted on sleeping with the bedroom window open to "hear" the wind.  I remember wondering if he was deaf, and I didn't sleep a wink.)

Lastly, this is my FIRST post on my new blog!  I recently moved from Wordpress and I am just LOVING the community feeling of Blogger!  I joined these parties as a way to meet new bloggers!  I created the header using this wonderful tutorial on Clover Lane.  She is awesome, and I hope my blog grows up to be just like hers one day!  I hope you enjoy my new blog!  I am in love with it!
