You haven’t seen much of me on social media lately, and there’s a good reason why. I’ve been elbow-deep in DIY projects and blog design projects.
I love hanging flower baskets on a porch. It cheers up the space while adding a pop of color. Let’s hope I don’t forget to water these this year. Oops.
The following is the guest bedroom’s progress.
I must be crazy for going through all of this for just a rental property, but the walls here were driving me insane. The house looks nice at first glance, but after a while, the things I thought I was okay with starting bugging me more and more. The carpeting was stained as well as the walls.
Getting our landlord to fork over the cash for paint and new carpeting was like pulling teeth. I will never understand people who have a house and don’t maintain it. Even with me doing all the painting, he still complained about the cost of the paint. And it was 40% off. Seriously? Stop being so cheap!
I used Sherwin Williams’ ‘Panda White’ in this room. I think it brightens it up so much! I was painting all day yesterday and will probably start on my office tonight. THAT room is a disaster. Di-sas-ter. It’s why I haven’t had any office makeover reveals on the blog.
Does spring time bring out the cleaning / DIY / renovating nutcase in you?

I don’t blame you for painting a rental at all! When I moved into my current place, they had a lime green master bedroom and an ugly blue living room. Leaving it wasn’t even an option for me and a fresh coat of paint really did make a huge difference!

I absolutely hate the red walls in our house right now because it was painted incorrectly and you can see tons of streaks but alas we aren’t allowed to paint it any colors that I would like so I said forget it!

It looks great! I painted the walls of my apartment too but I had to purchase my own material and do it myself … ugh landlords!

it’s amazing how much a little paint can change up a room. we need to paint the rest of the rooms in our house and i’m feeling sooooo lazy. excited to see your office come together!

it looks amazing!! i want hanging flower baskets so badly – they look lovely but ultimately i am lazy and careless and everything dies from lack of water. Ugh. The paint looks wonderful and I totally agree about owners who don’t maintain their properties. my husband owns a condo that he rents out and apparently its such a shithole, he refuses to bring me there. my dad went once to help him fix something – he reported back to me that its a total dump and that I married a slumlord. I will be showing this post to Jake asap.

That is so awesome that your landlord paid for the paint! We have stripes going 1/3 of the way up our walls and stripes in our master bedroom and they DRIVE ME NUTS. I don’t think our rental company will pay for us to change it though and I have no idea how to get a hold of the guy who owns the house. Love your changes though!
